As college students ourselves, we have found that it is difficult for students to connect with local NGO’s in Eastern Africa that are in need of volunteers. As a result, many students must either rely on personal contacts within certain organizations or on group volunteer programs. We think that there should be an alternative way of approaching volunteering abroad. By creating an East African Volunteer Database we will provide prospective volunteers with information needed to connect directly with NGOs that resonate with their specific interests and plan their own unique volunteer experience.
